On this day tour, you will get to know the Weser cycle path around Höxter. In Wehrden, you cross the Weser with a passenger yaw rope ferry and on the way back you cycle on the other side of the Weser to Holzminden and from there back to Höxter.
Shortly after the start in Höxter, the Höxter-Godelheim leisure centre or a little later the idyllic Nethe estuary are worth a short break. After Wehrden Castle, you will reach the Gierseilfähre ferry and use it to cross the Weser. On the way back to Höxter, you will see the Fürstenberg porcelain factory perched on the cliffs above the Weser halfway along the route. From there, you not only have a fantastic view of the Weser Uplands, but you can also learn a lot about fine tableware in the museum. If you feel like it, simply park your bike and take the short forest path to visit the museum.
The route takes you past Boffzen, past Höxter and through the village of Lüchtringen to Holzminden. Just before Lüchtringen, you have a beautiful view of the Corvey World Heritage Site. Take a break in Holzminden's market square, which is lined with plane trees. You then change banks of the Weser again and follow the Weser cycle path back to Höxter.
On the way, you pass Albaxen and the Tonenburg with its impressive defence tower. It was a defence system of the Imperial Abbey of Corvey and is now a popular meeting place for motorcyclists. Before you reach Höxter again, you should consider another stop. A visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Corvey is definitely worthwhile!
On the last few metres before Höxter, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Weser and the city skyline from the Weserscholle. And if you still have a few provisions left, this is certainly the perfect place to reflect on a wonderful day on the Weser Cycle Path.
For navigation, you can also find the route on komoot.
