Directly below the historic castle ruins in Polle in the Solling-Vogler region in the Weserbergland, the yaw rope ferry crosses the Weser every day.

Ferry operations began back in 1905. The ferry has been owned by the district of Holzminden since 1994 and the district has taken over the operation itself since 2022. Yaw rope ferries, of which there are very few left on the Weser, do not need their own propulsion. By tilting against the current, the flat ferry boat yaws along the high cable across the river. The Polle yaw rope ferry can ferry vehicles weighing up to 40 tons. It generally runs all year round and the crossing takes around 5 minutes.
