Höxter in the Weserbergland
Höxter is a lively town right on the Weser. Richly decorated half-timbered houses characterise the historic old town, where you can discover some of the most important buildings of the Weser Renaissance within a short walk. A wide range of shopping opportunities and a varied gastronomic offering with numerous beer gardens invite you to stroll through one of the oldest towns in northern Germany. The central location and high-quality accommodation in the pretty old town make Höxter the ideal base for your holiday in the Weserbergland and excursions into the Teutoburg Forest.
On the way in beautiful nature
On the Weser-Radweg, the Weser itself or the wooded and gently rolling hills of the Weser Uplands: Settle into your accommodation in Höxter and take advantage of the numerous opportunities for day trips by bike or on foot. You can also discover the river landscape of the Weserbergland by canoe or relax with coffee and cake on a boat trip.
Excellent culture right on the doorstep
Höxter is located on the German Fairy Tale Route and offers short distances to the region's cultural highlights. You can even walk to the World Heritage Site of Corvey with its impressive castle complex and the 1,200-year-old westwork of the abbey church. The Museum Schloss Fürstenberg on the other side of the Weser presents fine porcelain and the changes in tableware culture from 1747 to the present day under the motto "touch allowed". The Jacob Pins Forum and the museum in the Hüttesches Haus are located directly in the city.
Huxarium Garden Park
The Huxarium Garden Park Höxter was created as part of the 2023 State Garden Show and is an attractive destination between the town wall, the Weser and the Corvey World Heritage Site. Between fragrant rose bushes, almost forgotten vegetable varieties and selected medicinal herbs, the Remtergarten in Corvey shows the diversity of a former monastery garden. In the archaeological park, parts of the medieval town of Corvey are brought back to life using digital techniques and live excavations.
