The name Höxter first appears in a document from the year 823. It regulates the donation of the villa regia Hucxori by Emperor Louis the Pious (778-840) to Corvey Abbey, which was founded in the Weser Valley in 822. The lecture by Michael Koch and Ralf Mahytka deals with how people lived in Höxter in the 8th and 9th centuries and in which areas of today's town they settled. It also explores the impact of Charlemagne's Saxon Wars (772-804) and the associated Christianization in and around Höxter. For the new faith meant a pronounced cultural change for the people: churches, monasteries and Christian symbols on jewelry are now omnipresent.
